Gold level recognition of SARMED for its corporate social responsibility
SARMED participated for the fifth consecutive year in the assessment of its corporate social responsibility by EcoVadis and received the “Gold Recognition Level” distinction.
EcoVadis is an international platform that allows companies to monitor the sustainability performance of their suppliers. Its methodology covers over 100,000 companies annually from 200 sectors and 175 countries. The evaluation methodology includes 21 criteria, which are grouped into four thematic sections: Environment, Labor Practices & Human Rights, Business Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The criteria are based on international standards such as the Principles of the UN Global Compact, the treaties of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and the ISO 26000 standard.
SARMED further improved its performance in 2022 compared to 2021 and now ranks among the top 8% of all rated companies. Its performance is higher than the average rating in all 4 rating categories.

SARMED proudly announces its new collaboration with Skroutz, the #1 marketplace in Greece in the field of e-commerce logistics services, undertaking the centralized management of the new “Fulfillment by Skroutz” operating model.
This new model offers the possibility to the merchants that cooperate with the Skroutz Marketplace to store their goods in SARMED’s warehouses. More specifically, the services provided by Skroutz with the support of SARMED are the storage of the merchants’ products, the inventory management, order preparation, product packaging, according to the merchants’ clients instructions, returns management and detailed reporting to merchants.
This innovative service started as a pilot in April 2022 serving 20 cooperating merchants, with the aim to serve more than 200 in the coming months.
Through this partnership, Skroutz establishes the basis for merchants to grow their inventory without restrictions, outsource complex and time-consuming management processes and undividedly focus on increasing sales, optimizing the services provided to their clients and increasing their satisfaction.

June 2022 | Successful Audit and Extension of SARMED Integrated Management System
The annual audit process of SARMED’s Environmental and Energy Management Systems in accordance with the international standards ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 was successfully completed. As part of the audit, the extension of the specific certifications to the SARMED facilities in Thessaloniki (Sindos Industrial Area) was successfully carried out, as well. The audits were carried out by the accredited body TÜV Austria Hellas.
The certifications for Environmental and Energy Management are a natural result of SARMED’s strategic choice for a sustainable business development model, which is linked to its commitment to protect the environment, save energy and natural resources and reduce its carbon footprint.
The implementation of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 systems, results in the improvement of the energy and environmental performance and puts SARMED in a privileged position to meet the requirements of the new climate law that introduces a series of requirements for many companies, including companies of the logistics sector.

The International Labor Organization (ILO) has set April 28 as “World Day for Safety and Health at Work”, aiming to raise public awareness and highlight the importance of preventing accidents at work and occupational diseases. This year’s title celebration is “Taking action together to build a positive Health and Safety culture“. A strong Health and Safety culture is one in which the right to a safe and healthy work environment is valued and promoted by both management and employees.
At SARMED, the protection of the Health and Safety of our employees and the continuous improvement of working conditions is a non-negotiable principle and strategic choice.

The annual audit process of SARMED Integrated Management System by TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas and DQS against certain standards was successfully completed. More specifically, the certifications audited concerned the following standards / specifications:

- Ministerial Decision 1348/04 for Good Storage and Distribution Practices for Medical Devices

February 2022 | Piraeus Bank financing with sustainable development criteria (ESG)
SARMED a pioneer in its field, is now also a pioneer in the field of ESG. Recently SARMED entered into a financing agreement for its investment projects with Piraeus Bank with ESG features and environmental sustainability clauses.
Under the new financing agreement for its investment projects, the company is contractually committed to supporting sustainable development, setting targets for improving energy efficiency, increasing the use of paper from recycling and sustainable management, implementing environmental and energy management systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001) and the recognition of the practices it applies with the EcoVadis system. EcoVadis is an internationally recognized system that takes into account Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) issues.

SARMED, 3PL pioneer in state-of-the-art technology, announces its participation in the first Competence Center for Communication Networks of 5th generation and future networks (P-NET Competence Center) in Greece. P-ΝΕΤ Emerging New Generation Networks and Applications was established by 22 partners representing big and established companies, innovative SMEs and Higher Education Institutions of the country. The company’s activity will be co-financed for the first 18 months by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Development and Investment.
The main aim of the Competence Center is to support and promote innovation, entrepreneurship and technological support to businesses with activity in the 5G communication technologies with emphasis on strengthening vertical value chains (verticals) and sustainability.

It all began when Ilias Alexakis, the father of the present owner, started learning the traditional technique for making pita bread for souvlaki at a specialist bakery in the Piraeus suburb of Drapetsona. After years of hard work in all stages of creating pita bread, he gained valuable experience and knowledge that eventually led him to the decision to start his own business in the early ‘80s. The love and dedication to tradition were soon rewarded in practice, as the market immediately recognized his efforts. Soon, the small initial installation was not enough to serve the growing demand. As the company grows steadily to date, increasing in production and sales, it proudly holds one of the first positions among Greek pita companies, with a name synonymous with dedication to quality.

NEW COOPERATION
SARMED is pleased to announce its cooperation with TESA TAPE SA for the storage of their products in its state-of-the-art facilities in Mandra, Attica.
Tesa’s success story began with the development of an adhesive bandage. Paul C. Beiersdorf, a pharmacist, was working on the development of the adhesive bandage when Dr. Oscar Troplowitz took over the laboratory from the company’s founder in 1890. The bandage stuck perfectly, but it was irritating for the skin. Troplowitz turned the unsuccessful venture into an advantage and in 1896 introduced the first artificial adhesive tape to the market.
Today, Tesa is an international company with a leading presence in the global market for adhesive products and systems for industries, professionals and end consumers.
