Greece has officially entered the paperless transportation era after the signing of a draft law by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation for the Ratification of the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR).
SARMED is proud to have been there first and to have been awarded for its pilot application. Our company, through its experience in the use of new technologies, as well as in the management of a very large volume of documents, had a decisive role throughout the project.

October 2023 | Gold level recognition of SARMED for its sustainability and corporate social responsibility
SARMED was assessed by ECOVADIS for its corporate social responsibility for the sixth consecutive year and received the “Gold Recognition Level” distinction once again.
SARMED further improved its performance in 2023 compared to 2022 and now ranks among the top 6% of all rated companies. Its performance is higher than the average rating in all 4 rating categories. It should be noted that in Greece only 15 companies have a sustainability rating at GOLD level by ECOVADIS.
This distinction confirms SARMED’s commitment to the ethical and socially sustainable provision of services.
ECOVADIS is an international platform that allows companies to monitor the sustainability performance of their suppliers. Its methodology covers over 100,000 companies annually from 200 sectors and 175 countries. The evaluation methodology includes 21 criteria, which are grouped into four thematic sections: Environment, Labor Practices & Human Rights, Business Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The criteria are based on international standards such as the Principles of the UN Global Compact, the treaties of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the ISO 26000 standard.

SARMED’s workshop was successfully held on Monday, October 2nd at the Metropolitan Expo, within the Logi.C 23 conference, organized by O.MIND Creatives.
The workshop started with the presentation of SARMED’s updated corporate video and greeting by Mr Yiannis Sarantitis, Chairman & CEO of SARMED. Mr Dimitris Karagiannis, CCOO of SARMED, presented the benefits of outsourced logistics and the importance of the right 3PL provider’s selection for the development and efficient operation of businesses.
The workshop also included two panels. Mr Dimitris Bosnidis, Logistics Manager of Coca Cola 3E and Mr Markos Sigalas, Supply Chain Director of Grigoris participated in the first panel. Both participants highlighted the need to outsource logistics to a 3PL provider and focused on the benefits of SARMED’s services. Key performance indicators of the two projects were presented. The discussion was moderated by Mr George Fardis, Commercial Director of SARMED and Mr Lefteris Solomos, Transport Operations Director of SARMED.
The focus of the second panel was SARMED’s new specialized service, e-Commerce Logistics. The company’s two new cooperations, with Sport Vision and SpitiShop were presented. The General Managers of the two companies, Mr Vassilis Karamanlis and Mr Marios Bezioulas, respectively, praised the excellent cooperation with SARMED, in terms of the level of the services provided, as well as for the development and application of efficient digital tools by the IT Department of SARMED. The discussion was moderated by Mrs Fotini Skapinaki, Head of e-Commerce Logistics of SARMED and Mr Antonis Danopoulos, IT Director of SARMED.
We sincerely thank our participants and guests for their presence at the workshop, and would like to emphasize once again on the importance of logistics outsourcing and its role on the effective operation and development of commercial businesses.

SARMED stands by the people of Thessaly who were affected by the recent floods.
The company donated necessities – water, long-life milk and cereals, following the initiative of the affiliated transport company, Nikolaidis Bros. Also, on her own initiative, SARMED collected products from her customers to distribute them to people in need. PASSALIS G.&I. responded to this initiative by donating pulses and pasta. Nikolaidis Bros transport company provided its vehicles for the goods to reach to the people in need.

NEW E-COMMERCE COLLABORATION
SARMED is pleased to announce its new collaboration with Sport Vision, for the storage of its products, in SARMED’s new-built facilities in Aspropyrgos, Attica, as well as their distribution all over Greece.
Today, Sport Vision is the largest retail chain in SE Europe with more than 640 stores. SARMED took over the management of its supply chain, for its omnichannel strategy in Greece. On a daily basis, SARMED manages the flows of its total inventory both online and offline. Its main brands in the Greek market, are Sport Vision (Sport specialties stores), Buzz (Sneaker stores) & TIKE (Fashion & Limited editions Sneaker stores).
An important addition to SARMED’s wide clientele, following the development of its e-commerce logistics unit.

SARMED, following its intensive development over the past 3 years, is pleased to announce the completion of its new facilities in Aspropyrgos, Attica.
The specific storage complex is another addition to SARMED’s facilities throughout Greece. It consists of 3 state-of-the-art storage & cross dock facilities with a total area of 38,000m2 (covered areas), fully equipped.
More specifically, the complex includes:
- New head offices
- 10,000 m2 dry cargo warehouse
- 18,000 m2 warehouse of all temperature conditions:
- 8,000 m2 freezer
- 4,000 m2 maintenance
- 6,000 m2 dry cargo
- 10,000 m2 warehouse specially designed to provide e-commerce logistics services.
The complex, as all the company’s facilities in Greece, has:
- Full asphalt paving in all exterior areas
- High strength industrial flooring in all covered storage areas
- Modern warehouse racking (back-to-back) of anti-seismic technology
- Electro-hydraulic loading ramps
- Automatic fire detection/fire extinguishing system
- State-of-the-art surveillance (CCTV) and alarm system
- Alarm with photoelectric sensor inside the warehouses
- Security & patrols 24/7/365.
A photovoltaic station with an annual capacity of 1,388,410 kWh will soon be added to the complex, an investment worth €550,000. In total, 1,666 photovoltaic panels of 540W each will be used, which add up to a total system power equal to 899.64 kW.
With sustainable development in mind, the design and development specifications of SARMED’s facilities meet all the necessary specifications and harmonize with modern practices to save energy, reduce carbon footprint and above all, to ensure the health and safety of its employees.

It was founded in 2002 in Thessaloniki. It is one of the largest distributors of consumer goods in the Greek market. ASTOR HELLAS has two commercial operations; the trade of branded products whose distribution covers the entire Greek territory and the distribution of its own exclusive products which aims at the best combination of price and quality. The company is also active in the HO.RE.CA industrial area with an ever-increasing range of products.

June 2023 | Verification of greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the international standard ISO 14064-1
Sustainable Business Development Model
SARMED, aligned to its strategic choice for a sustainable business development model, proceeded to the verification of its greenhouse gas emissions (carbon footprint) in accordance with the international standard ISO 14064-1. This standard defines the principles and requirements for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals at the organization level and leads to compliance with the relevant requirements of the recent Climate Law. All direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions of the company and other indirect emissions of partners were verified (e.g. transport service providers).
The verification was carried out by the ISO 14065 accredited Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report Verification Organization TÜV Austria Hellas, while SARMED collaborated with PRIORITY consulting company for this certification.
It should be noted that the Company in addition to systematically measuring, constantly implements measures to minimize its environmental footprint.
At the same time, the process of the annual surveillance of SARMED’s Environmental Management and Energy Management Systems in accordance with the international standards ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, respectively, was completed with absolute success. As part of the audit, by the accredited body TÜV Austria Hellas, the specific certifications were extended to SARMED’s new state-of-the-art and energy efficient facilities in Aspropyrgos.

Supply Chain Awards announced the big winners on Tuesday, June 13th, at House 124 in Athens. Representatives of companies, academic and institutional bodies. This 7th consecutive year, innovative projects and initiatives in the field of supply chain and logistics were awarded. All projects were evaluated by an independent committee of 18 members, including representatives from the academic community and operators of the supply chain.
SARMED received the Silver Award for its superiority in Pescanova’s deep freezing food warehousing services. Those services are supported by the WMS, LVS & Voice Picking developed by Mantis Informatics.

Successful Re-certification and Extension of SARMED’s Integrated Management System
The re-certification process of SARMED’s Integrated Management System by TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas and DQS against certain standards was successfully completed. More specifically, the certifications audited concerned the following standards / specifications:
- ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management
- ISO 22000:2018 for Food Safety
- ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety
- Ministerial Decision 1348/04 for Good Storage and Distribution Practices for Medical Devices
- Regulation (ΕU) 2018/848 for management of organic products
As part of the audit of the Integrated Management System, the extension of specific certifications of the Integrated Management System of SARMED to an additional facility in Sindos, Thessaloniki, as well as to the new facility in Volos, were successfully carried out.
The confirmation of the effective implementation and the continuous extension of the Integrated Management System is one more evidence of our commitment to operate by providing our partners with high quality services that meet their needs and expectations.
The Top Management of SARMED warmly thanks the Heads of Departments and Divisions and all the employees for their active and decisive participation in the successful completion of the audit process.

E-commerce is constantly growing. The pandemic was a catalyst for its significant growth in Greece and worldwide.
SARMED, constantly offering innovative and value-added services and contributing to the success of businesses, invests in the e-commerce market and in dynamic executives to lead SARMED’s e-commerce logistics services. In this context, it designs and implements a plan for the development of its services in the e-commerce market. This plan will be implemented by its new e-Commerce Logistics organizational unit, led by Mrs. Fotini Skapinaki, Head of e-Commerce Logistics.
Mrs. Skapinaki is an established executive in the e-commerce market with many years of experience in its supply chain. Also, she has been an alternate board member of the Hellenic Logistics Company and of GR.EC.A – Greek e-Commerce Association.
